As the effects of global economic recession is starting to ease up in UK, divorce cases also shot up by 6% in the last three months, from 28,600 to 30,400.
During the last two years, the economic recession also meant that people are less willing to risk getting a divorce because it meant spending money on legal fees, splitting the property, and other financial implications.
The economic upturn means that more people can afford a divorce and more people are experiencing enough job security to give them confidence to pursue it. People are also showing confidence that the property values will remain up so that they can get a better deal when selling the property for divorce settlements.
The spike in the number of divorce cases filed could also be an indicator that people who are doubtful about whether their marriages will last are taking advantage of the economic improvements to speed up the legal separation and divorce process. |
