Mel Gibson Trying to Sell Art Collection for Divorce E-mail

As the divorce of Mel Gibson and ex-wife Robyn Moore is beginning to wrap up, the former couple has already started trying to auction off their multimillion dollar art collection.

However, the auction reportedly came back with huge losses because of the global economic slump. People bought the art pieces for much lower than what the ex-couple were expecting.

The Maxfield Parrish piece, Daybreak, sold for $2 Million less than what was expected. When Moore bought it at Christie's back in 2006, she set a record for paying $7.6 Million for the oil painting. Now an anonymous phone caller purchased it for $5.2 Million.

Another Parrish painting, Sing a Song of Sixpence, sold for $2.2 Million; $300,000 below the projected price.

The couple ended their 28-year marriage last April, before Gibson confirmed his affair with Oksana Grigorieva. Five months after Grigorieva gave birth to their daughter, she and Gibson also split up.
